Its always an honor to be apart of any event or someone's special day, but a wedding has an unique place in my heart. A couple's biggest day, the celebration, all the preparation and money that goes into making sure that it's their version of perfect and it goes on without a hitch. That is where I come in for this Lucky in Love couple. When Cyndi came to me about decorating I was all in before she could finish asking me to be their wedding decorator. This was the first wedding that I had more than just tablescapes to execute. I was in charge of crafting a picture frame photo prop, sweetheart table initials, flower girl basket. a bouquet with bling and boutonniere with style to match both Brides' personality 😉. The color scheme of gray, shades of yellow and a touch of sparkle were perfect for this 7-7-17 summer wedding. It was all about the tulle and sparkle details for this pink and gold Tutu Cute/Princess Ballerina Themed Baby Shower: I love working with tulle. It is a very simple material that can be manipulated easily into anything.  Gold sparkly princess crown made from cardboard and a Cricut .  Me and the Mom-to-be The dessert table (not designed by me) was beautiful, it was hard not sneaking a piece 😀

The lovely Mr. & Mrs. Morgan went the destination wedding route and recited their vows on a beautiful sandy beach in Mexico. Then decided to bring the beach (theme) back to the great state of Texas to celebrate with family and friends.  For this beach inspired reception we went with teal, seashells, pearls, candles, burlap and sand decor with shimmery accents.  One of the highlights of the decor was this fabulous gold sequin backdrop with a teal curtain that everyone struck a pose in front of. The beach sand trays, vellum and sequins lampshades, fishing net wrapped mason jars, and hand painted and glittered shells decor were all custom made (by The CGD studio of course). The mother-to-be's dad is a barber and her mother is a wonderful hairstylist (I know from first hand experience).  So the theme to the reveal party: Barber shop or Beauty shop? Clippers or Combs?  My friend/hairstylist Kisha is always coming up with out-of-the-world (way beyond the box) themes for parties so I had to come through with her vision. You don't wanna even know what her first theme was gonna be 😣. 

I love any party theme but the Hollywood theme gets a little more love because you can be as glamorous as you want.  I was tasked with making the rep carpet stanchions and "velvet" ropes and a mini step repeat background for a Sweet 16.                        For the stanchions : concrete, small pie pans for the molds, PCV pipe, caps and sleeves (they might not be called that but you get the point), glitter tape, glitter sealer (it is a must trust me), 7/8" gold cup hooks and a drill to make the holes. For the "velvet" ropes : installation tubes, fleece fabric, red ribbon, and plenty of hot glue 😉                                                                                              ...

Don't stash your wearable art in a drawer or in a armoire where it can't be seen, display it. If your like my friend that I made this for and have tons of necklaces this would be perfect for you. It's wall decor that's functional because it holds your beautiful jewelry, decorates your wall and is a shelf as well. 

I swear that two socks go into the dirty clothes hamper then the washing machine and then the dryer but when it comes time to match them and put them away one is missing. This is one of life's many mysteries. Bee themed baby shower: Decorating for this baby shower was a little challenging, not because of decorations or planning but because I knew the sex of the baby and couldn't tell anyone.... yeah challenging. On the other hand it was kinda fun to know something that only me and the mom-to-be knew. It was suppose to be a true gender reveal shower and she was going to find out along with her family and friends, but the sonogram show very clearly what the sex is.  Beautiful Mom-to-bee: Reveal time: Table centerpieces and picks, cupcake toppers, banner, and honeycomb boxes made and styled by me. I love attending weddings and witnessing two people express their love and make promises of happily ever after. But a very close second to being invited to one is being able to create something for one.   I was excited when the soon to be Mr. and Mrs. came to me to create a banner announcing their new family.  The Henderson Wedding theme: Country Chic with sunflowers, burlap and lace.  Sure there are those fancy die cutting machines that cut letters but i still prefer painting by hand with help from stencils. That's me painting away.   Not only is it wedding decor but it will be framed and hung in their home as a reminder of their special day! I couldn't be any happier 😊! 

A jewelry holder that's also wall decor (or vise versa) 

I have a jewelry armoire but the side doors that hold my necklaces were getting crowded and some of my necklaces were too long. I also needed something on the short wall between my closet and bathroom so I killed two birds with one stone by making this: Correction I killed three birds with one stone, I also finally put to use the fabulous sequined paper I found at Michael's . I knew right away whatever I was gonna make was going to include two things: chevron and grey. As I've said before choosing colors and color combinations is the hardest decision because the possibilities are endless. After staring at my color board and paints for days I narrowed it down to turquoise, magenta, yellow, and black. And well you see the winning colors. But I have some black and magenta knobs to switch if I feel like a change :).

I love monochromatic color schemes. There are so many to decorate with other color combinations or themes anyway but, in my opinion, monochromatic color schemes are the best because its one color but a variety of hues to choose from. As you can tell from the pictures the color requested for the birthday dinner was purple with touches of gray and sparkle. The centerpiece for the main table was fun to make. I opted for faux flowers because of their variety of colors and availability. I found purple feathers, plumes, flexible wire that I curled, and flowers with pearls and broaches for their centers. And added the crystal that's hanging for a lil glamour. Tulle pinned with vintage broaches on the ends and sprinkled with small paper flowers were used as runners. Cylinder glass vases wrapped in dark grey glittered paper with "diamond" embellishments topped with hydrangeas on glass candle plates were the centerpieces for the other tables. More pics to come.

I don't believe in wasting, especially craft supplies. Even though you can usually catch scrapbook paper on sale, if not its only about 0.50 - 2.00 depending what type of paper you buy. I have a drawer full of scraps of paper to use for small projects or embellishments. After punching circles out I used a whole punch to make my own confetti for a baby shower I'm decorating for as I mentioned in my previous post. Silly? Maybe but I'm happy lol.

Decorating for a baby shower later this month and the theme is Cute as a Button/polka dots and the color scheme is pink, brown and orange. The 12x12 on the left came from a pack and it only had 4 sheets so I had to get resourceful and create my own. All it took was finding paper that matched and Hobby Lobby was my go to place. Their paper aisle is inspiring and stocked with many colors and patterns AND that week the papers were 50% off!!! Love it :) I used a 1.5" circle punch and duplicated the pattern. One row I had to improvise because the original sheet's circles are bigger. I am very happy with how it turned out. Whatcha think of mine on the right?

It is so many ways you can decorate any holiday themed party or shower- and that can be a good and bad thing because of the endless possibilities. For this St. Patrick's themed baby shower we (the mom-to-be's sister and I) had plenty of ideas but we decided to focus on three elements: the pot of gold, the  r a i n b o w and shamrocks . I love that food and candy are one of the easiest ways to incorporate colors and add to the theme. This array of fruit was for the guess to make their own skewers for the chocolate fountain.  Skittles, M&Ms and Life Savers candies separated. A round glass bowl with a green tulle bow, scrapbook paper cut into strips and adhered to water bottles and glass bowls was very inexpensive (especially if you can catch a deal like 5 for $1 at Michael's or Hobby Lobby  ) The Mommy-to-be: Anne   Pots of Gold : flower pots painted black with Rolos candies as the gold nuggets. Wish i had a better picture of the ribbon rainbo...
